Kylee has been sick this past weekend. Finally though she is back to her cute little self. Yesterday she went to the fridge, pulled out a clementine, peeled the whole thing herself, and started eating it. Well, if you can call it eating. She would break off a section, chomp on it a few times, and then spit it out. The who time she was grinning from ear to ear. She was so proud of herself.

Home cooking

Hey all I am trying to be a better wife and plan meals ahead of time if you have idea's of good meal that aren't too hard please let me know. recipes are great too. thanks love ya all. This is Ruth by the way

It was a white out!!!!!!!

It is amasing to me that I can leave my house, it was windy not much snow, and drive 5 minutes up the road to take Ian to preschool and I can not see a thing. Complete white! Glen and Sarah know the road I take to get Ian to school. My boys love it It is a huge gully and it definalty feels like a rollercoaster ride. Well yesterday when I got to the top of the hill all of a sudden I couldn't see anything. I slowed way down and when I got to the bottom of the hill there were cars stuck at the top who couldn't get tracktion. They got themselves turned around so that they could head up the other way I guess and when I started to go because I had come to a complete stop I didn't have enough traction to go up the hill.
I turned around and headed up the other side of the gully and there was a car stopped at that end of the hill, lost traction again, turned around in a white out condtions,Yikes, and decided to go through a new development going in at the bottom of the hill. Had no problems going that way, and got out onto 10400 which is the road you take to Glen's old home.
I decided to go the long way to get Ian to school and started to head east. Heavy wind and lots of snow, couldn't see well but thought I would be fine. It was at this time I realised I forgot my cell phone, which it unfortunatly common. As we came to the stop sign I had no traction and was sliding into the car in front of me and I didn't want ot have and accident so I swerved to the right where there was probably a foot of snow, got stuck which I feel is better than rear ending a huge truck. I tried rocking back and forth was almost out when there burly guys came to help push me out. Of course seeing them behind me made me nervous that I would runn them over so I ended up really getting stuck. They happened to have a tow rope and hooked it onto my hitch and the back of my van and easily pulled me out. I was so glad, knowing I forgot my cell phone, becaouse I almost felt helpless.
At this point I knew I should turn and go back home, but I didn't. I turned down 6000 West and headed for Highland Hwy. I could not see anything! I couldn't tell what side of the road I was on, I couldn't see anything. A car passed me going the opposite direction but we weren't close so I felt that I was on the right side of the road. I wanted to get off the road but couldn't see anywhere to pullover so I just kept going straight. All of a sudden we made it to the hwy and I really didn't want to get on but didn't know where else to go, so were turned left on the hwy now. I still couldn't see anything, except for the car in front of me. We were going about 5 mph, every once and a while we saw cars sitting on the side of the road. Ian and I just kept saying prayers of saftey. I knew I just had to get to Ian's school and we would be fine. We finally got to the light to turn and again, once I didn't have somebody in front of me I couldn't see anything, just WHITE! Ian's school was just around the corner and we made it safe and sound. I left my house at 11:55 and pulled into Ian's school at 12:40. It takes less than five minutes to get to his school, on a good day. I hung out at his school until 2:15 when jason came and picked us up. I don't like those kind of snow storms.

St.George Half and 5K

Ok, So we had a lot of fun this last weekend. Sarah, Frances, Amberly, Maria and Janice all ran in the half marathon and RaeAnn, Jenny, Brian, and Jeffrey all ran in the 5k. Glen and Greg were just our little cheerleaders. Jeffrey kicked butt at the 5K and he finished in a time of 23 min. Bryan wasn't to far behind with a time of 24 min. Jenny and RaeAnn finished in 37 min (I think that is what it was)

The Halfers all finished and we really enjoyed it too. Janni's time was 1:55, Sarah was 2:10, Amberly was 2:14 and Maria and Frances were right behind Amberly with a 2:14:29. We are already looking for the next half. Franny and I are thinking April 5th, The Provo City Half, and 5k. So for those of you who are in for the Half or the 5k, we are doing it again.

Greg got everyone (Except Janice) finishing there race on Video, so when he gets home from Nashville (yep he left us this morning till Friday) then he will get it all edited and we will post it here for everyone to watch.

Train Movie

Train Movie Train Movie
For those of you that were not able to come visit us during the holidays, I have uploaded a movie of the Christmas train village for the family to see. It took me a long time to learn how to upload the movie. I made the movie to share with a handicapped neighbor who also loves trains. I did this especially for Taylor and Morgan to see because they did not get to come visit us during the holidays. John and Jenny's families also did not get to visit us. Good luck and success to all of you girls running in the half marathon in St. George this week-end. Love Dad

Kitty Kitty

This is our cute kitty her name is puss. She showed up at the house about a week after I moved in. Both me an Jer are allergic to cats but we couldn't turn her away she was real sick when we got her but we took her to the vet and she got better. she now lives in our house and we love her so much. Our allergys are getting alot better. She is so much fun and we laugh every day about something she does.

BABY RUTH

Hey everyone it's the baby of the family. Thanks for all the posts for my birthday and those of you that called or texted me happy birthday. It was a fun day. I got lots of presents from my cute hubby mostly new shirts cause that is what I had asked for. I got some cute layers shirts too. Friday we went to dinner with Jen and Brian and Mom and Dad (thanks again for driving up here to see me) Then sat night Jer took me out to breakfast and dinner (so he didn't have to cook) Some of our friends came to dinner with us. Sunday afternoon we went snowshoeing up green canyon. It was my first time and after my groin muscle hurt a little. casue I must have been lifting my legs too hard. It was so beautiful and peaceful tho. Well today I started a new job at Qwest so if any of you are thinking of getting any of there services let me know so that I can get credit for your business and same with your friends. I am very excited about a job with them and hope that it can be a long term thing as much as I love doing hair, it just doesn't really pay the bills. and the benifits are amazing at qwest it's 100% free for me to have medical, dental, vision, and life insurance and only $300 a year for me to get coverage for Jer which is about $14 a paycheck. They also have 100% tuiton reibursment but they acctually just pay the school direct so there would be no out of pocket if I decide to go back to school. Well I sure miss all of you and wish I could go down next week for the race but will be thinking of you all while I am at work :)

The Nielsen's are here!!

New Years day Jason attached a rope to our little motorcycle and he pulled the boys around the school field on a sled. Of course being the adventure seeking nuggets they are they had to build a jump for extreme air! They were out there for so long that jason was beginning to get saddle soars(not literaly).

I knew that field would come in handy some day.

This picture is of the boys before we opened christmas presants. They are a little sleepy.

Christmas Puzzles

RaeAnn gave mom and dad puzzles for Christmas. Jack was given a train puzzle which Susan completed tonight. Unfortunately it was missing a few pieces in the upper right hand corner. I have included a picture of the completed puzzle. We had fun working on it the last several weeks. Susan was given a puzzle of Yellowstone National Park. It is a larger puzzle and we have not started it yet. Thank you RaeAnn for the fun gifts. Last Friday I helped a member in the FHL named Raeann. I told her my daughter had the same name. I also helped a brother and sister from Washington DC/Virginia area in town on a business conference. They had ancestors from Iran. The girl was able to find her father's pedigree on one of the CD's of pedigree resource file that went back several generations. They were very interested in why the church does family history research. I explained that the church believes that family relationships can continue after death and we are encouraged to identify our family relationships. In the FHL we are not supposed to do proselyting missionary work but if the patrons show an interest to refer them to the missionaries on temple square. I shared some information about the Book of Mormon and showed them how to find a family history center to assist them when they get home. They wanted to know if they could attend our church on Sunday before they returned home. I told them how to find a chapel and to be sure to attend the choir broadcast on Sunday at 9:30 am. They thanked me and commented how friendly the people have been. Another woman from Michigan I helped on Wednesday. She was researching her ancestry from Italy. She was able to locate two US Census records from Michigan and the most exciting find was her great grandfather's passport which include his picture. She also asked why we do family history research so I helped her understand why. She was in town visiting a male friend who is a member of the church. As you can tell I am enjoying helping people discover and research their root

I have also included a picture of our water fountain that I decorate as a Christmas Tree during the holidays. It has a lighted train in front. Since I must cover it with plastic during the winter I make it look like a Christmas tree by spraying it green on top and brown on the bottom and put lights on it.

Hope you enjoyed the puzzle picture. Love you all, Dad
Happy 25th Birthday to our Baby Ruth!!!

Jack's Christmas Train Village

Frances called to instruct me how to post a blog and picture so I decided to give it a try. I thought I would send a pictures of my Christmas Train Village that I displayed in the living room during December. I just took it down this week. Several of the grandkids came over during the holidays to see and operate the train. Also several neighbor kids. I had fun sharing my hobby with others this year and plan to add more things to the village next year. I placed mini hershey bars on one of the flat cars and candy canes on another. After the kids operated the train and blew the whistle several times they stopped the train in front of them and took the candy from the flat cars. Later,
I decided to let them take the candy from the bowl because their eager little hands would derail the cars. Next year I want to add people and a winter ice skating scene. As you all know I have always had a desire to build my own model railroad. Susan and I have been talking about finishing the basement in two years. If we decide to stay here for awhile I would like to put in a theater room, a bathroom, a bedroom and a room to build my model railroad. It would be a fun place for the grandkids to come and operate it with me. Then go watch a movie with popcorn and have a sleep-over.

Jumping in!

Hello all from the Cox family. I love reading everyones blogs. This will be fun to hear more family news. So I'm jumping in.

We are up here in the Land of the North covered in piles of snow. The kids are out in it now. It has been really cold so it is nice today is warm enough for them to play in. Not to mention the house is more quiet. Thus I have time to write.

I thought I would share my family history goals for this year, since mom and dad are servng a family history mission. My first goal is to go to the temple once a month. I have struggled to be consistant ever since Kylee was born. She is almost two so I guess it is time to make no more excuses. My second goal is to write in my journal everday or as often as my tired little self will let me about how the Lord blessed me that day. I started this last month and it has been awesome to recognize things that happened that at the time I didn't pay attention to. Along with my journal goal, I want to spend at least 10 minutes everyday typing my old journals on the computer. I do this because next to loosing my children in a fire, I would be devastated to loose my journals. Last goal is to keep a fun record of my family activities. I plan on doing this through scrapbooking. I have been trying to do this through the cut and paste the paper way. It isn't working so well. Now I am trying it digitally.

Janice congratulations on potty training Morgan. Kylee is interested in the toilet. She has sat on it lots and this week she pooped for the first time. We were all pretty excited. Kylee loved the M & M's the most though. She will do almost anything for candy.

I am so excited for the St. George trip. I am excited to play with all of you, but I think I am almost as excited to travel. I downloaded a book for us to listen to. I love to read but I don't get a lot of time to do it. This is a great way to do it. I am also bringing my computer so I will have lots of hours to scrapbook.

POTTY TIME FOR MORGIE

Picking her nose on the potty....yuck

Well I really don't want this to be just a second blog for the Cook's to post our news, but I wanted to share a couple of Pictures of Morgan on the Potty and I figured the Horsley family blog was a good place for them.

I started potty training Morgan on Tuesday. She has blown me away. I thought for sure she would be her stubborn little self and really fight the whole idea of potty training. She had two accidents the first day and only one accident a day since then. She has pooped in the potty twice, on her own I might add. The first time, I was half asleep on the couch and she woke me by saying "Mommy I pee pee in the potty" I was so excited that she would go to the potty by herself, but to my amazement when I looked in the little potty there it was, Poop. She went all on her own.
This is Morgan's pushing face.....errrrrrrrrr

Thursday came around and I decided I had better throw away the little potty during nap time. I did this because she would not ever sit on the big potty and Wal-Mart and Church and the Gym (the main places we go) don't have little potty's. She has amazed and surprised Greg and I. It's funny, just because she isn't in diapers anymore, I look at her and think she is such a big girl, but has she really aged since Monday when she was still in diapers?

I also wanted to tell you all that she is talking like a champ. She cracks us up all day long. She puts "right now" at the end of everything. And this one I am not to proud of but you all know I have a little bit of a potty mouth. I tend to say "Oh bloody Hell" alot. The other day she asked Greg to look for something for her. He couldn't find it, and she said "Oh bloody hell dad". Oops, not my proudest moment. I think I know what I need to work on.
This is Taylor waiting for Morgan to push that little poopie out.

Taylor is still such a little beauty and she has gotten into this potty training thing as well. She takes it upon herself to take Morgie to the toilet when she says she needs to go. She is a proud little momma (sister). I love you all and I am super excited to see alot of you In St. George one week from today. I have had a cold but I actually think it might be a sinus infection. I haven't felt like running much this week. I did venture out to the gym this morning and I got a 7 mile run in. I hope I am ready. Mostly I am excited to be with Frances, Sarah, Amberly and Bryan when they run their first half marathon.

P.S. Just for your info, Greg and I are going to bring the Wii down. We can play guitar hero all night long. Watch out, I have been practicing, I am on Medium now.
This is Greg trying to be as good as I am at Guitar Hero. ;)
Ok I really am not that good. I went to Mandy's last night and played at her house for a minute. Ya, Mandy is good, she kicks my butt.

Greg's Calling Adventures!!!

I received my new Coyote call yesterday in the mail. FOXPRO Scorpion (digital). It holds 200 sounds and comes with a remote control...just in case anyone wanted to know.

I just thought you would all want to see what I called in on my lunch break today. Turned on the "Kitten in distress" sound and called this willey coyote (ancestor) clear up to the kitchen window. I was pretty excited!!!

Here is a picture of the call and the SAVAGE BEAST I called in. (Note: Click on the picture to ZOOOOOOM in)

Thank you to my sister in law Stephanie. She made our family blog more fun to look at. She is a genius. Thanks Girl.

Hello from the Baldwins

Hi everyone I think this is a great idea janice. Well not much happening with us right now. Just finishing up my training for my first 1/2 marathon. Todd hasn't had any work this week so I have taken advantage of it and gone to the PG rec. to do my running this week and he has stayed home with Cambree. On wed when we got all that snow he brought the backhoe up and pushed all the snow from the street to the end and made a huge 14 feet high snow hill for the kids. They think it is great. Well I'm excited to see several of you next weekend in St. George. It's going to be great. I love you all and hope we will all take part in the family blog. LOVE YA!!!! Frances

Lets do this thing..together!

Ok, so I love to blog on my own family blog. It gives me something to look forward to and something to think about, being as that I am a stay at home mom and have nothing but house work to do. So I got to thinking this morning and thought it would be a great idea to start a blog for HORSLEY NEWS. This will be some place we can all go to inform each other about what our family's are up to and what the little ones have accomplished. I know that for us (The Cooks) we feel out of the loop sometimes. John and Sherri are in Idaho and Cox's and Ruth and Jer are in Logan, I am sure they feel the same way.

Taylor misses her cousins dearly and we wish we can be involved in every little family get together but with a 2 1/2 hour drive it's not always possible.

Now listen, when we get together, all of us, we all have a whole lot to say. So lets start saying it on this here new family Horsley blog. Let's keep on each others lives more often. I miss my brothers and my sisters and mom and dad alot. I am hoping this will keep us closer and more informed. We can use this to connect cousins and family friends as well. We can use this to post everyone about up coming events aka, baptisms, blessings, graduations, parties, the list goes on. Please help me make this fun and exciting for every one, including the kids.

We have teenagers now in the Horsley Crew so they will be way into this I am sure. Check back every now and then for updates on new news.
